- Students who complete this course will be able to use the major facilities of the latest COBOL compiler from IBM in any of its releases (COBOL/370, COBOL for MVS & VM, COBOL for OS/390 & VM, or COBOL for VSE), and will be able to use facilities of Language Environment (LE) to solve some of the issues surrounding Year 2000 concerns.
- Audience
- Application programmers with experience using VS COBOL II who need to learn the features of the new IBM COBOL. Application programmers in shops moving to any of the follow-on compilers to VS COBOL II and programmers who need to address Year 2000 (Y2K) issues using COBOL or LE services.
- Prerequisites
- The course is designed for experienced VS COBOL II programmers who need to learn about the new IBM COBOL and its features. The student should have 6 months recent experience programming COBOL with at least 3 months experience using ISPF/PDF especially the text editor and should be able to code JCL to run simple batch jobs.
